BROOKLYN SCHOOL WINS NATIONAL AWARD
Warbasse Nursery School Wins Mainstreaming Award
Boston -- EXCEPTIONAL PARENT magazine has chosen the Warbasse Nursery School in Brooklyn as an Award-Winning Educational Program which mainstreams children with disabilities into classes and social activities with students without disabilities. The Warbasse Nursery School is featured in EXCEPTIONAL PARENT's September issue.
The programs chosen for recognition demonstrate how resourcefulness and flexibility can enable all school systems, large and small, urban and rural, public and private, to provide integrated experiences for all children.
Warbasse Nursery School is unique in its ability to mainstream children (ages 2-5) with a range of disabilities. The program includes art, trips, cooking, story time, dramatic play, music, and outdoor activities.
The staff includes special educators, physical, occupational and speech therapists, social workers, psychologists and art and music specialists.
Warbasse also provides workshops for parents to discuss their children's needs.
For more information about the Warbasse Nursery School, call (718) 266-5585.
Three other Award-Winning Summer Programs are featured in the September issue: Resurrection Children's Center, Alexandria, Virginia; Estabrook New Horizon, Ypsilanti, Michigan; and Union High School, Grass Valley, California.
A national magazine publishing for 18 years, EXCEPTIONAL PARENT provides practical information and guidance to parents and professionals interested in the development of children and young adults with disabilities. A one-year subscription (8 issues) is $18 for individuals and $24 for schools, agencies and libraries. Fifty thousand copies of each issue are distributed throughout the United States and Canada.
